Digital Photography Scavenger Hunt

The digital photography contest is now open. Each entry must consist of one picture in each of the following six categories. The pictures must be taken just prior to or during the 2008 Mercer County Fair.

1) Activity during the Fair
2) People at the Fair
3) Structure or buildings on the Fairgrounds
4) Contests at the Fair
5) Ribbons at the Fair
6) Livestock at the Fair

The pictures must be submitted electronically by Friday, July 11, at midnight. The winner will be announced Saturday, July 12, in the afternoon. All rights to the pictures must be transferred to the Mercer County Ag Society for use on its web site. Any people featured prominently in the pictures must agree to be photographed and sign a release form stating that their photograph can be used to promote the Mercer County Fair.

Harness Racing to Open 2008 Fair

Harness racing opens the 2008 Fair. Harness racing will start at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 6 and at 5 p.m. Monday, July 7. There will be no carnival or other exhibits open on these two dates, but Sunday and Monday's races are a free gate. So come to watch some remarkable trotters and pacers competing for large winner's purses on one of the fastest tracks in western Illinois for free!!! This year there is a 4-year-old and up trotter race on Sunday that is special to our Fair. There will also be a barbeque lunch served out of the Jaycee's stand on Sunday.

Not Too Late to Enter Flowers and Gardening.

Floriculture and Gardening entries will be accepted during check-in on Tuesday, July 8, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. But don't be late....at 1 p.m. sharp entries close!

Fair Premium Book Now Available

The 2008 Mercer County Fair premium book and the entry form are now available online. Printed versions were mailed to last year's exhibitors in mid-to-late May. Copies may also be picked up in local county businesses.

Magic Matt Returns for Daily Shows

The family magic of Magic Matt returns to the Mercer County Fair in 2008. He performs three times daily Wednesday through Saturday afternoon/evenings. Magic Matt has entertained at numerous county fairs across Illinois and Wisconsin and is a creative genious at making balloon characters. Be sure to look for his white tent infront of the Merchants' Building.
